Q&A

  1. Do I need a bike during Orientation and if so where can I get one?
Answer: Yes you will need a bike as we will be all over Nijmegen throughout the entire Orientation. If you dont have a bike yet we recommend you to check out our bike information page. In short, we recommend buying one as that is often the cheapest, but otherwise companies such as Swapfiets and Boogle both provide options for renting one.

  2. Who are my mentors and where can I find them or their contact information?
Answer: Most likely you will have 3 mentors that will be with you throughout the entire orientation. Around a week before Orientation you will get information on which group you will be in and who your mentors will be. You will be able to contact them via WhatsApp (or text) around this time as well.

  3. What do I need to do in case I lose my group or have an emergency?
Answer: The first and foremost thing you should do is make sure you are safe. After this you can contact your mentor in case you simply lost your group and need to get back to them. In case of an emergency we as Orientation Committee have a small Crisis Committee that can provide some quick help when needed. These are also students who are in the Orientation Committee so this is not professional help but can be considered more of a First Aid Premium kind of help.

  4. I feel unsafe or uncomfortable during my orientation, what do I need to do?
Answer: In case you do not feel comfortable during your orientation the easiest thing to do is talk to your mentors. They are there to make sure you have a nice Orientation and can join in on all of the fun. If you feel like they can't provide the help you need in that moment you can contact one of the Orientation Committee confidants. You can contact them throughtout the entire orientation and they will make time for you to make sure you are heard. In case you need more help they might advise you to go to the Radboud wide Cinfidential Advisor. You can also contact them after orientation in case you need it. You can find more information about this on the Radboud page on confidential Advisers

  5. I have a question that is not listed here, who can I contact?
Answer: In case you already have the contact information of your mentor group feel free to ask your questions in there as there might be more students who wonder the same thing. If you do not have this information yet (or would like to directly as the organisation), you can contact us; the Orientation Committee. You can contact us via orientation@svcognac.nl

Budget

You might be wondering where your participation fee is going. Here is a general breakdown of our expenses.

To start with, we as CognAC get €70. The other €70 goes to Radboud directly. For the €70 we get, we provide dinner for the whole week and unlimited drinks during evening activities. It also covers the cost of all activities (except for the cantus) and an intro shirt.

We hope this gives you an idea about where your money goes, and if not, do not hesitate to contact us for a more detailed explanation.

WiFi

When you are on campus, Wifi is everywhere! (even on other universities in Europe). To find more information on how to connect to it you can go to our page on WiFi, which you can find here.

If you can't get it to work, you can ask for help during the IT Prep.

ICT prep

' Since we know ICT might sometimes get a bit complicated or confusing we made a presentation guide to help you along the way. During the IT-help we will go over it and help you set up your Radboud University account and associated things such as Brightspace and Osiris. If you want to check it out before hand or afterwards feel free to do so by downloading the presentation here.
